Currently there are 4 different types of miragedrive fin masts. These are version 1 standard and turbo as well as version 2 standard and turbo. Standard masts fit standard and ST fins. Turbo length masts fit turbo fins. Version 1 styles secure to sprockets using grub screws. Version 2 masts screw into a threaded insert in the sprocket (pictured above).
This chain assembly is designed to fit version 2 and GT miragedrive drums. it has flat edges on the threaded section
V1 Chains also available (no flat edge on threaded section)
Introduced as an option part for Hobie miragedrives in 2008, the drive seal helps keeps the seat area drier. Seals the aft end of the MirageDrive well. Limits the incursion of water into the cockpit caused by the surge action of the drive fins. Testers also claim some improvement of forward thrust.
This version 2 miragedrive drum (pictured above) is for version 2 drives and can be used to upgrade version 1 drives (version 2 chains required).
Gt Drums are the current item and are interchangeable with V2 Drums but have bearings for less friction. Check drum shaft for wear before fitting.
Version 1 and version 2 Miragedrive sprockets and now the new GT sprocket. V1 is the earlier version of Miragedrive sprocket, featuring set screw to lock the mast in place. The Version 2 sprocket is a later version of Miragedrive sprocket, featuring a threaded brass insert that fin masts screw into, as shown below. *Single sprocket only - does not include masts
The GT sprocket features plastic roller bearings which reduce friction. You can update your V2 drive with GT drive components. Always check your sprockets shafts for wear first
Miragedrive spare parts kits come with the following components: Fin, mast, sprocket, chain and appropriate parts for the drive version, all contained in a handy zippered pouch.
The correct version has to be selected to match your drive.
